How do I join Dionysis?
Check out the web site and decide if you're interested, then simply drop us a line via the Contact page. Be sure to include your name and email address. We'll get back to you with details of what you need to do next.
Does it cost anything to join?
Dionysis charges a participation fee to be part of the cast for the summer blockbuster. For this you receive 2 weeks under the guidance of a professional production team, working on your dancing, singing and acting skills. You get the chance to perform in a professional venue with all of the technical attributes of a professional show. Naturally this costs the company a huge amount of money and the only way that this is made possible is through the participation fees and ticket sales. Also to audition you would need to pay a small fee to cover administration and venue costs. All of the costs involved will be advertised along with the promotional information regarding this year's forthcoming show, Chess. Alternatively you can contact Dionysis at 01388420210.
Can I bring my application form along to the audition?
We understand that sometimes people hear about these things late and that there isn't always a lot of time to try and get things organised. We do prefer it if people can have an application form filled in prior to attending an audition but we would never turn anyone away or deny them the opportunity to be a part of a Dionysis show. Having a prepared application for simply aids with the smooth running of the audition and saves time.
Where do rehearsals take place?
The venue for rehearsals is Broom Cottages Primary School in Ferryhill.
I'd like to go and see a show. How do I get tickets?
Tickets will be available from the Gala Theatre box office in the run-up to the show.
How many shows do Dionysis put on per year?
Dionysis traditionally stage one large-scale, youth musical a year. Dionysis performed a version of John Godber's "Bouncers" in January 2002. We are hoping to increase the diversity of the company by producing more shows at other times during the year in the future. As is the case for everyone in the present climate, financial constraints govern our direction. Dionysis is always looking to diversify and expand but it is not always possible.
